Six extremely talented “rat-hole” miners from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, have formed a remarkable alliance with the Indian Army in order to assist them in their mission to rescue 41 workers who are stranded in the Silkyara tunnel beneath Uttarkashi.
These miners, who have unmatched skill at manoeuvring and excavating in tight areas, are responsible for excavating the final 10–12 metres of debris that separate by hand.
